CAMP ON!

Located in a beautiful, natural setting, our camp offers a premier introductory experience designed to immerse youth in the outdoors. This unique environment allows participants to step away from their daily routines while exploring specialized program areas, blending adventure with the natural beauty of the wilderness.

Participants can dive into activities at the waterfront, practice precision at the shooting ranges, or master traditional skills in craft and survival areas. From the focus required in creative projects and nature studies to the teamwork built during interactive challenges, every moment is designed to help youth progress through their personal goals. Our program is intentionally tiered to grow with each participant, offering expanded, independent experiences for older youth as they prepare for the next stage of their development.

We prioritize a high-quality, engaging program that balances time-honored traditions with new, challenging experiences. Our well-trained, professional staff is dedicated to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment where youth can develop an appreciation for the outdoors and a strong commitment to conservation. We ensure that every leader and family receives excellent service, creating a welcoming atmosphere that fosters community and service to others.

Everything we offer is built to ensure a memorable and rewarding stay, providing youth with a clear sense of achievement. Whether they are learning new practical skills, setting up camp, or building respect for their peers and the environment, our camp offers an outstanding foundation that builds confidence, competence, and a lifelong connection to the great outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there wagons?

We have very few. You are encouraged to bring your own.

No, due to the safety for our campers and staff.

No, but it is recommended if you wish to swim outside of the non-swimmer area.

Jump feet first into water that’s over your head in depth. Swim 100 yards in one swim style (without stops and including at least one sharp turn). The first 75 yards must be done in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; the last 25 yards must be done using an easy resting backstroke. After completing the swim, rest by floating.

Unfortunately, no. We would like the entire pack to be present when you are brought into camp. This allows us to receive all of the medical forms and your pack to start the tour on time.

Webelos session program is designed for just Webelos and their requirements. We have a special Webelos AOL ceremony that we only do during Webelos week. Webelos can attend the Cub sessions.

We have a wide variety of wildlife at camp McLoughlin. We often see deer, toads, bats, squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, ospreys, herons, and bald eagles. We very rarely see predators such as mountain lions and bears.

Camp temperature and weather often vary. It can be freezing in the mornings and very hot throughout the day. It is usually dry in the summer, but we can sometimes get rain along with thunder and lightning.

Camp McLoughlin is a nationally accredited camping institution of Scouting America.
