Scouting in the News: Stories from Early 2026

As we kick off 2026, the spirit of Scouting is alive and well across our council. From Eagle Scout projects in Eugene and Medford to official recognitions by county officials, our Scouts have been busy making a tangible difference.

Here is a look at some of the top stories featuring our Scouts and council in the news during January and February.

In mid-February, Payshens, a Scout from Troop 7, completed her Eagle Scout project at the Crossings at Rogue Retreat in Medford. The project involved the construction and installation of new garden beds for the facility, which provides transitional housing and support services. These beds will allow residents to grow their own food and find therapeutic value in gardening – a perfect example of how Scouting service directly supports our most vulnerable neighbors.

The Douglas County Commissioners officially recognized the impact of Scouting by proclaiming February as Scouting America Month. During a weekly business meeting, representatives of our own Doug Fir District, including district chair Chris McCullough, district executive Peter Sudduth, and Scouts and volunteers from units across the district spoke at the special recognition. The proclamation celebrated the thousands of hours of community service our Scouts log annually, from building bridges to collecting food for the hungry.

Check out the full video of the proclamation and our Scouting representatives’ remarks.

Our own Camp Baker was featured in the March 2026 edition of Scout Life magazine. The magazine highlighted Camp Baker, along with seven other camps, for their summer camp programs they have planned for this summer.

These stories are just a small sample of the incredible work being done by the youth and volunteers of the Pacific Crest Council. As we look toward the rest of 2026, we remain committed to building character and serving our communities.
