Arrival & Logistics

Snow Capades is a true winter experience! Please plan for snow and ice on the roads.

  • Parking: Park at the Great Meadow Overflow Parking Lot (North side of Hwy 140, approx. 1 1/8 mile east of camp).
  • Sno-Park Permits: A State of Oregon Sno-Park Permit is required to park. These can be purchased at the Council Service Center or from the shuttle driver (limited supply).
  • Shuttle & Hike: A shuttle bus will take you from the parking lot to the camp entrance. From there, it is a 1/4 mile (20-minute) hike over snow into camp.
    • Note: Shuttles run until 10:00 AM and resume after 2:00 PM.
  • Prohibited: No ATVs, Quads, Snowmobiles, or dogs are allowed in camp.

Important Reminders

  • Age Limit: All children MUST be 5 years of age or older.
  • Capacity: Limited to 350 people (240 youth, 110 adults).
  • Safety: We REQUIRE everyone to wear bike helmets on all saucer runs. Please use provided saucers only; leave personal sleds at home.
  • Gear: Traction tires or chains should be carried. Keep Scouts dry during the hike in so they stay warm all day!

Troop Service Opportunity Build & Staff

Snow Capades is a “win-win” for our Scouts BSA Troops! Troops earn service credit while enjoying a weekend at camp in exchange for building the saucer runs and supervising the stations.

Help Needed for 2026:
We need 3–4 Troops for each of the following weekends:

  • Build Weekend (Jan 16–17): Construct the saucer runs and obstacle course.
  • Event Weekend (Jan 23-24): Help run the stations for the kids.

Troop Weekend Details:

  • Arrival: Friday night by 7:00 PM.
  • Lodging: Stay in heated cabins!
  • Meals: Saturday breakfast and lunch are provided. (Troops must bring their own Friday dinner and Saturday dinner/Sunday breakfast if staying over).
  • Departure: Work ends Saturday at 3:00 PM. Troops may stay Saturday night to play and depart Sunday by 11:00 AM.
