Scouting is a movement of continuous growth, and just as programs adapt to better serve today’s youth, the Order of the Arrow is continually refining how it welcomes and inspires its members to ignite limitless Scouting journeys.

Right here in the Pacific Crest Council with Kunamokst Lodge, an exciting evolution of the induction experience is unfolding. Whether you are a parent wondering what your Scout’s next steps look like, a unit leader supporting your troop, or a veteran Arrowman looking back on years of service, here is a look at how our program is growing, what is evolving, and how you can be part of this chapter.

Why It is Changing

The Order of the Arrow is meant to be lived, not just earned. In its ongoing vision to be “why Scouts want to stay in Scouting,” the national organization looked closely at how we welcome new members into our brotherhood.

Rather than a complete reinvention, this transition is a thoughtful evolution designed to crate a more welcoming, engaging environment from day one. By fostering transformative fellowship, the updated process helps candidates deeply connect with what Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service truly mean—ensuring they leave energized for their future in Scouting and ready for limitless Scouting journeys.

What is Staying the Same and What is Evolving

The new induction experience continues to honor the core tenants that have guided the Order of the Arrow for over a century. Our core principles – Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service – are more integrated into the induction than ever before. The induction will remain a significant moment in a Scout’s journey. Our dedication to supporting our council camps and fostering servant leadership will not change.

While our core values are not changing, we are adapting how we teach these values to better resonate with today’s young people. The delivery, pacing, and overall atmosphere of the journey are being elevated to better ignite limitless journeys. The updated experience places a renewed emphasis on small-group dynamics, guided discussions and activities, and reflective dialogue designed to be an inspiring program that helps candidates forge lifelong bonds right from the start of their journey in the Order of the Arrow.

Challenge to Current Members: Go and Experience the New Induction!

For our current Arrowmen, this rollout isn’t just for newcomers, it is an invitation for you to witness and take part in the lodge’s continued growth.

Kunamokst Lodge is actively challenging all current members to step up, take part, and experience the new induction firsthand at the upcoming Lodge Induction Experience event. If you want to understand how our induction is evolving, this is your opportunity to see it in action.

What to expect as a current member participating in the new process:

• A Fresh Perspective: You’ll get to re-experience the modernized journey alongside fellow Arrowmen. You’ll have full access to conversation, share great meals, and walk away with exclusive, commemorative SWAG—including a special collectible item specifically for those who complete the experience.
• Leadership Readiness: While experiencing the new induction is a requirement for anyone serving in key induction-related roles moving forward, it is not a requirement to maintain your current membership. However, if you plan to serve on a future induction team or staff, attending is strongly encouraged to gain a firsthand understanding of the updated process.
• Re-engaging the Lodge: Lapsed members and Arrowmen from neighboring lodges are also welcome to join in supporting this exciting program evolution.
