CAMP ON!

Our flagship camp is uniquely located on a scenic peninsula on Siltcoos Lake, just outside Florence, Oregon, and only minutes from the breathtaking Pacific Ocean. This exceptional setting allows campers to experience a rare blend of coastal, lake, forest, and dune environments in one program.

Scouts can sandboard on the iconic Oregon Dunes, paddle canoe outbounds across Siltcoos Lake, or take part in small-boat sailing, SCUBA diving, and a wide range of water sports. On land, campers can challenge themselves through climbing programs and participate in traditional shooting sports, including cowboy action and muzzleloading, all conducted within a strong culture of safety, skill development, and responsibility.

Here at Camp Baker, we promise a few simple but important things: a high-quality, engaging program that keeps Scouts excited and challenged; excellent customer service for units, leaders, and families; a well-trained, professional camp staff who care deeply about youth and safety; and hot, plentiful meals that keep everyone fueled for adventure. Everything we do is designed to ensure a memorable, well-run, and rewarding camp experience.

With excellent facilities and age-appropriate programming, our camp offers outstanding experiences for both younger Scouts just beginning their outdoor journey and older youth seeking advanced adventure. Whether on the water, in the dunes, or back in camp, every experience is designed to build confidence, competence, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors.

From the first grip to the final rappel, it’s an unforgettable way to push your limits and see the camp from a whole new perspective.

Range & Target Activities

Take aim and sharpen your skills at the Camp Baker shooting ranges! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced marksman, our program offers a safe and exciting environment to practice precision and discipline. Test your steady hand with archery and rifle shooting, or step back in time for the fast-paced challenge of Cowboy Action shooting. Our program is designed to build self-reliance and leadership through hands-on experience in Pioneering, Orienteering, and Wilderness Survival. Scouts can learn critical skills in First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, and Search and Rescue, or explore modern hobbies with Geocaching. Whether you are discovering your roots with Scouting Heritage, practicing the art of Camping, or accelerating your rank advancement through the Trail to First Class, you’ll leave with the confidence to lead in any environment.

Unleash your creativity at the Camp Baker Handicraft center! Whether you’re interested in the precision of Metalwork and Wood Carving or the timeless traditions of Basketry and Leatherwork, our program offers a hands-on experience for every artist. Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of housing is available at Camp Baker?

Camp Baker has a few types of housing. We have traditional green canvas tents on wooden platforms. We also have three sided Adirondack shelters with 2 sets of bunkbeds. Our newest type of housing is called “minidaks” and this is a smaller version of our Adirondacks that sleeps two.

We take pride in serving each meal in the “Kenneth Ford Lodge.” We serve meals cafeteria style beginning with Sunday dinner and ending with a continental breakfast on Saturday morning. Here at Camp Baker, you can expect “hot food and lots of it”.

Wi-Fi is available for free for adult leaders. Throughout most of camp, you should have cell phone service. Florence is just 10 minutes away for dependable Wi-Fi spots.

We have a great shower house that was recently completed. These are single stalled showers and single stalled bathrooms that allow for a comfortable and safe experience for Scouts and leaders.

Camp Baker’s program consists of a balance of structured and unstructured programming. In the morning, merit badge programs run from 9am-noon. In the afternoon, we have a mixture of open programming at our ranges, waterfront, and climbing tower plus merit badges being offered in other program areas. See our leaders guide for the most up to date schedule.

Camp Baker is a wonderful escape from the summer heat. With highs in the low 70s and lows around 55 degrees, we have a comfortable coastal climate. That said, “Be Prepared” just in case we receive a little of the famous Oregon Coast drizzle in the morning.

Camp Baker is a nationally accredited camping institution of Scouting America.
