For the first time in 15 years, Jefferson County has celebrated a brand-new Eagle Scout as 17-year-old Giovanni Martinelli earned Scouting America’s highest honor. A founding member of local Troop 9058, Martinelli achieved the milestone after a decade of dedication, which included earning 21 merit badges and building large planter boxes at Madras High School for his community service project. He was formally awarded his rank during a special ceremony at the Erickson Air Museum.
