As we approach the National Day of Prayer on May 7, 2026, the Pacific Crest Council is proud to highlight a unique opportunity for our youth to deepen their spiritual growth: Scouts Read Sacred Texts Worldwide.
This global event encourages Scouts of all ages to engage with their faith by reading from their own sacred texts. Designed to be simple, respectful, and inclusive, it offers a meaningful way for adult leaders—from Cubmasters to Advisors—to support a Scout’s Duty to God without requiring specific religious instruction.
Why Participate?
Spiritual growth has always been a pillar of the Scouting movement. This event aligns perfectly with our core values by:
- Fulfilling the Scout Oath: Directly supports the commitment to “do my duty to God.”
- Encouraging Reflection: Promotes personal growth consistent with Scouting America principles.
- Honoring Diversity: Respects the unique family and faith traditions of every individual Scout.
- Offering Flexibility: Activities can be completed individually, with family, or as a group unit activity.
Advancement Opportunities
Participation isn’t just spiritually rewarding—it also helps Scouts move forward on their trail to Eagle!
- Cub Scouts: Participation satisfies the Reverence requirement for rank advancement.
- Scouts BSA: This activity satisfies the Scout Spirit requirement to “Tell how you have done your duty to God.”
